Description

1 collective petition (30 respectable housekeepers) on behalf of M Digby convicted of theft of beef valued at eighteen pence. Grounds for clemency: mother brought up seven children by industry and hard labour. Taught them honesty but youngest son has not followed this lesson. First offence. Not yet 15 years of age. Mother in distress. Annotated: 'Nil.' MH35
