1 collective petition (26 inhabitants of Wicken, Cambridgeshire, including the mark of the prisoner) on behalf of William Day convicted at Cambridge Assizes in summer 1821 of housebreaking at the property belonging to William Delph. Grounds for clemency: has wife and four children dependent upon him. Previous good and honest character. No violence was used in the crime. Prisoner was not the plotter of the crime but was drawn into it. Initial sentence: death commuted to transportation for life. Annotated: 'Nil 7 February 1822.' MH34
