2 individual petitions (the prisoner and the prosecutor) and 1 collective petition (14 inhabitants of London) on behalf of Charles Thompson convicted at Surrey Quarter Sessions in January 1821 of theft of goods valued at six shillings belonging to John Wells on 13 November 1820. Grounds for clemency: previous good character. Was a nurseryman and market gardener in business with his mother. Mother and family reduced to great misery because of the conviction. Mother unable to carry on with the business. Initial sentence: 7 years transportation. Annotated: 'Nil.' MH28
