Folios 5-12. Letter from Joseph Boulton, Vestry Clerk, Burslem, for the churchwardens and overseers, to John Davenport MP, [Stoke-upon-Trent], enclosing plans and specifications for a new range of buildings at the Burslem parish poorhouse, with reports of two vestry meetings, requesting these be passed to the Commission for approval and sanction. Enclosed: 1. Copy of a report on a vestry meeting, 31 August 1835, to consider tenders for new buildings at poorhouse. Reverend John Noble, Chairman. Lowest tender subject to approval of the Commission to be accepted. John Woolrich, bid £1197, but Aaron Sant with £1130 awarded contract, building to start when the Commission sanction is obtained. Samuel Ledword to superintend the work at £10 salary. John Davenport [MP Stoke-upon-Trent] to obtain sanction of the Commission. 2. Copy of a report of a vestry meeting in Burslem, 13 August 1835, to consider erection of new range of buildings at the poorhouse. Thomas Hughes, Overseer of the Poor, Chairman. Resolved to erect new buildings to include a parish office, to approve modification to specification to place this in the centre of principal front, and a schoolroom in east wing, with advertisements in the <emph render="italic">Staffordshire Advertiser</emph> and <emph render="italic">Potteries Mercury</emph> inviting tenders. 3. Specifications for erection of new buildings of certain length, breadth and of two storeys, with materials and drawings noted. Sub-section particulars for stonemason; plasterer; joiner and carpenter; iron founder; plumber, glazier and painter. 4. Plan of ground floor. 5. Plan of chamber floor. 6. Elevation [presumed front]. Poor Law Union Number 415. Counties: Staffordshire.
