- [This petition is damaged] The Prior and convent of the charterhouse of Mount Grace state that Richard II granted them the Priory of Ware, Henry IV removed them from it, granting them instead an annuity of £100 at the Exchequer, and Henry V granted them the alien priories of Hough and Minting in Lincolnshire. However, one John Burdet, canon of Cherbourg has recently been presented to Hough by the Abbot of Cherbourg, admitted by the vicar general of Lincoln, and received and inducted, to the great disinheritance of the king, both in this case and in the case of similar things happening in other alien priories, if a remedy is not provided. They ask that John Burdet might be summoned before the Duke and council and examined on this matter, to show what authority he has, and that they might be restored to their possession.
