Nature of request
The customers of the port of Exeter request that whereas Noble, Trend and Syward, passing through the port on their way overseas with wool and woolfells, will not pay the custom of £216 for the same and intend to alienate their lands, tenements, goods and chattels to others, that these said lands, tenements, goods and chattels be taken into the King's hand until they have made grace to the petitioners.
