Alyne, widow of John de Brereton, asks that she might have the wardship of her eldest son according to the form of the Great Charter, as her husband held his lands of the honour of Knaresborough for a farm, and not by knight service.
Nature of endorsement
She is to sue before Roger le Brabazoun on the morrow of the Ascension, and Milo de Stapelton is to be warned by a writ of Chancery to be present then, to say anything he can on the King's behalf. And this petition is to be sent there under the King's seal and she is to be heard, and justice is to be done etc. And the inquisition held by a writ of diem clausit extremum concerning the tenements contained in the petition, which is in Chancery, is to be sent there then.
