Compass star, with the royal arms and motto at the centre. Prince of Wales's feathers at the corners within the border. Drawn by Lieutenant D M Allen and signed by him at the Royal Engineer Office, Sierra Leone, 30 April 1881. Inset: watercolour view of the town from the sea, showing Fort William.
