Sir Edward Gregory, Commissioner, Chatham. Receipt of letter, he has written to Captain Holmes about the Newcastle stores and the longboat. The stores for the Virgin Prize are still at Sheerness and when a merchantman bound for Barbadoes arrives at the Nore he will have the stores put on board. The Master Sailmaker at Sheerness has been to London to bring down six able workmen, but none would come despite his and he proposes a press warrant directed to Thomas Button, sailmaker at Sheerness for 12 men. Next Wednesday is a high day for that trade and Mr. Button could press them at that time. The only other proposal is to supply Mr. Hayes with a sum of money to pay his present workmen. The yard is also short of cables, so that the Ropemakers have to work on Sundays unless Woolwich could help. Duck canvas, a longboat and two hawsers are needed for the Harwich at Sheerness which has been supplied and request the canvas is replaced from Deptford.
