Nature of request
The Bishop of London, and the Dean and chapter of St Paul's, ask the King to preserve the immunity of St Paul's, as he promised them when at his request they granted a plot of land called Baynard's Castle to the Friars Preachers to build a church, which is causing significant harm to St Paul's, and also asking him to preserve the immunity of the churches of St Andrew by the Wardrobe and St Martin, Ludgate, greatly ruined by the destruction of houses in their parishes by the Friars Preachers. They note that Robert de Kilwardby, formerly Archbishop of Canterbury, and his fellow friars promised St Paul's £100 of annual rent in compensation. They also ask that the Friars might be ordered to desist from harassing the Dean and chapter about being granted the houses of John Soudan, in exchange or in some other manner.
