Nature of request
Walter de Wygeton states that after the death of Richard de Kirkebride, who held of him in chief, he took to himself the wardship and marriage of the heir, but the King expelled him from his seisin of this wardship after the death of Eustace de Balliol, because of some lands which Eustace held of the King in chief and which Richard's heir inherits: then when he complained, realising that he had wronged him, he returned it to him, as can be seen from the writ attached to this petition. But now the justices in Eyre at Carlisle, not knowing of this, have adjourned him before them to answer about this marriage at the quindene of Easter next. He therefore requests a remedy and a swift response.
