Nature of request

Letter to Edward II from the community of London, stating that John le White, merchant of Almaine, and Arnold his brother have long lived and traded in London and elsewhere in England, always showing themselves to be trustworthy, but that they have been hiding their true nature, and have now fled overseas with goods and merchandise entrusted to them by various merchants, including one Richard de Hakeneye, citizen of London. At Richard's request, they ask the King to write to the burgomasters, schöffen, aldermen and community of Lübeck, where John and Arnold now are, to inform themselves about the actions of John and Arnold, and to force them to pay Richard what they owe him.
