Nature of request
Chikewell requests a remedy as he and his wife and children are impoverished by the detention of a sum of £681 12d. that he paid to a merchant of Gascony for the king by order of Langton in which the king is bound to him from the time that the earl of Lincoln was the lieutenant of Gascony. Chikewell submitted the letters of the earl to the receipt and Langton by his clerk received the sum but detained it from Chikewell and he is unable to have remedy.
Nature of endorsement
Let it be ordered to the treasurer and barons of the Exchequer that they call before them in the Exchequer both the bishop of Chester, late the treasurer, and Eston, and they should do full justice to Chikewell upon the contents of the petition.
