Description (What the record is about)
-
John Clevland. Stephen Levine has petitioned having been under great difficulties because he discovered the frauds carried on in the Barfleur's books by the clerk. Being known as an informer he can get no business. He was given a warrant as Purser of the Scarborough which he could not accept for lack of security because of the loss of his character. We can propose no other employment for him unless he is appointed Gunner on qualification
