Copy letter from Piercy Brett, Master Attendant, J. Ward, Master Shipwright and Daniel Devert, Clerk of the Survey, Chatham. Receipt of warrant with an extract of letter from Captain Boscawen of the Dreadnought asking for a launch to replace his longboat. Are of the opinion that launches row better and will draw less water but cannot carry sail in a gale or go against a head sea so will not substitute for a longboat and propose another experiment is made
