Description
Petitioners
Commons of England.
Addressees
King and Parliament.
Nature of request
The petitioners ask that all those ousted from their estates in the great uprising (now ceased) should be restored and that no person of any condition should detain such properties on pain of forfeiture of all their lands, goods and chattels to the king, and perpetual imprisonment, and also that chancery writs are sent to the sheriffs of every county such that those ousted are put in peaceful seisin as in their first estate and are able to pursue their rights by the common law. They state that in the great uprising and after the start of this present parliament, many persons were ousted from their liberties, tenements, rents and services, as also were men of Holy Church and many others throughout the realm, and are still wrongfully deprived by the strength of the evildoers.
