Description

Name(s)
Fitz Alan, Earl of Arundel and Surrey, Richard
Addressees
King and lords and commons of parliament.
Nature of request
Richard, Earl of Arundel and Surrey, states that his lordships of Bromfield and Yale have been attacked by malefactors from the county of Chester; and that, although the King summoned them to appear before his council on 19 November last, they did not do so, and have not let up their attacks. As they cannot be punished without an ordinance of the King, he requests a remedy, both for the trespasses and for the contempt.
Nature of endorsement
The King wishes to ordain a remedy for this with the advice of his council, both touching the rebellion and contempt committed against him, and for the trespass committed against the party, saving the franchise of the county of Cheshire: providing always that the trespassers are punished if they are convicted.
