It is stated that in other countries no man becomes a broker unless he was born there, but in England many aliens of many countries act as brokers, though many are banned in their own country for falsehoods, but here as brokers have made many dishonest bargains and usurious loans and many other acts to the prejudice and damage of the king and the impoverishment of the commons of the realm. They request that the commons request from the kings and the lords spiritual and temporal that they ordain that from this time forward that no alien be a broker or use the office of broker within the realm upon pain of £12 to be raised in the Exchequer.
