Report of James Adair, Recorder of London, on Joseph Wright, a man who served beer to people in their own homes, convicted at the Old Bailey for stealing 2 pewter pots (found in his pockets), property of Sherrard Hart. Grounds for clemency: already served 10 months and suffers ill health, weakness of the prosecutor's case (vague as to when and how the crime occurred) and the prisoner's friends (from Horncastle in Lincolnshire) have offered him employment if his health is recovered sufficiently. Initial sentence: 7 years transportation. Recommendation: free pardon.
