Description

Folio 180: Swann to Bennet. On return from England, attempted assessment of state of company 'within themselves'; found Townley, Hexter and Richardson 'to be dangerously schismaticall in their principels and the leading men in the compagney to continue their obstinacy against the discipline of the church of England'; they influence their fellow members and try to corrupt the young who have come hither for their education; personal and friendly remonstrations and request to give him, 'under their hands' their undertaking of future conformity to be sent to King produced no satisfactory reply, whereupon he ordered them to forbear the company's courts and councils until they decided to conform; presumes they will outwardly comply, but, according to his information, they will find ways at court to get dispensation and thereby make his exhortation meaningless; asks for encouragement and protection from Bennet; has exhibited King's letter to company who made him free of their fellowship. After relief of Kanisza, imperial forces hasten to join with Zrinyi's troops among whom there will be 1,600 Saxons who arrived at Vienna on June 22 N.S.; they are resolved to give battle to Turks.
