Folio 130: Wich to Carteret. Due to ill health will follow Czarina to St Petersburg. She will celebrate her Name's Day at Novgorod (Novogrod). Long account of situation of Duke of Holstein's refusal to Sweden and eventual succession to Russia, in letter to Guy Dickens. Sending letter via Germany to Denmark to cope at Hamburg, asking him to forward it to Titley at Copenhagen who will then forward it to Stockholm immediately. Should arrive in 24 days. Brummer has sent back his Holstein courier without informing Russian ministers of the contents of the dispatches. Natural supposition that Bishop is to be proposed as candidate for the succession. Buchwald ordered to go straight to Stockholm. Duke's party thought to favour the Bishop, assured that Czarina will restore Finland at the peace if Sweden will follow Czarina and settle succession in favour of the Bishop. Letter from Hyndford says King of Prussia grows more reasonable. Conclusion of his treaty postponed. Still probability of concluding our treaty before departure from Moscow. Dated Moscow, 2 Dec 1742.
