Folio 207: Carteret to Wich. HM orders me to send most secret intelligence regarding French fear that Czarina will learn of their activities against her at the Porte, of which you are already informed. French believe that Russian ministers abroad are not disposedtowards France, and will try to get Lestock and Brummer to procure orders from Czarina more favourable to France. Brummer set Czarina against King of Prussia, whom he dislikes, as much as HM French seconding of Duke of Holstein's party in Sweden should be ignored, as their real candidate is Duke of Deux Ponts. Dated Whitehall, 22 Oct 1742.
