Camp before York. Washington to Cornwallis. Replies to proposals in letter at PRO 30/11/74/122: prisoners must remain in America; shipping etc. in the two harbors to be delivered to a naval officer, and artillery and stores to appropriate officers; officers may retain side arms, and all ranks their effects except for property taken in America; no action can be taken on civilians till they are particularly described; expects British wounded to have their own supplies and attendants; requests acceptance within two hours of receipt of this letter. The letter is apparently the original.
