Description

Manuscript prize appeal No 75, from the High Court of Admiralty, filed in 1801.

Captured ship: America (master J D Burgher).

Nationality: American.

History: bound from Amsterdam to New York, laden with Geneva gin, linen, bundles of steel and various merchandise; taken on 14 May 1799 by HMS Director (William Bligh commanding), and brought into Great Yarmouth.
