Barham Downs Easter Plate: A fund to provide a piece of plate to be run for by horses on Barham Downs had been subscribed to as far back as 1670. The event, taking place on Easter Tuesday of each year, was discontinued in 1884 and the fund paid into the Court. In 1887 the Court made an order for the application of the fund cy pres. In 1912 a new scheme was adopted whereby the funds were used to provide prizes for various classes of horses at the annual East Kent Agricultural Show.
