Description

Letter by Henry Stokes [Stowkes]to the parson of Brockhall [Northamptonshire], or to his farmer or deputy requiring payment at Northampton on 21 Jan. next, in the Queen's name, of all sums for which his church is 'interdited', and of the tenths due to the Queen last Christmas.

Dated at Peterborough, 7 January 1563 Letter by Henry Stowkes to John Pickard, parson of Brockhall [Northamptonshire], or to his farmer. Henry in his extreme need asks for the loan of as much money as John's subsidy amounts to, on 12 July next at the sign of the 'Cocke' at Northampton; Henry will acquit John when the subsidy is payable on the last day of September.

Dated at Peterborough, 18 June 1564, with seal attached. Letter by Henry Stowkes to Mr. Congarton, farmer of the parsonage of Brockhall [Northamptonshire], beseeching him not to fail to send the curate's subsidy and the subsidy for his stipendiary wages due the previous 30th September. Henry will be at the sign of the Cock at Northampton on 12 July next to receive the sum.

Dated at Peterborough, 19 June 1564, with seal attached. Letter by Henry Stowkes to Mr. Congarton, farmer of the parsonage of Brockhall [Northamptonshire], praying him to pay the subsidies due as in (iii). Henry will be at the sign of the Cock in Northampton on 25 November.

Dated at Peterborough, 12 November 1564, with seal attached. Letter by Henry Stowkes to the parson of Brockhall [Northamptonshire], or to his farmer requiring him to pay the subsidies due on 30 September last, at Northampton on 19 June next.

Dated at Peterborough, 8 June 1565.
