Description

'Sketch map of Lower Egypt' showing railways, canals, roads, tracks, telegraph, stations. Reference table. 1878. Manuscript additions, which may have been made at the beginning of the 1939 to 1945 War, relate to the need for establishing cantonments for troops and the Royal Air Force at Port Said, Ismailia and near Suez; the transfer of an RAF repair depot from Aboukir to Port Fuad (at Port Said); and the accommodation of up to 2,000 RAF personnel at Ismailia.
