Description

Short title: Attorney General v Cope.

Plaintiff(s): The Attorney General, informant.

Defendant(s): Sir John Cope, bart Humfry Jones, the mayor, commonalty, and citizens of the city of London, and Francis Millington.

Subject of depositions: "The Custom House Key, or Old Wooll Key, and New Wooll Key, and the Custom House and buildings upon them." A mapp or "platt of the grounds and buildings as they stood before the fire of London in 1666. ", "Stone staires" and the passage thereto. A controversy between the King and Sir Anthony Cope (brother of defendant, to whom defendant is heir) touching the metes and bounds of their property and possessions. Commission to "rebuild the present custom house." Agreement of partition between the King and said Sir Anthony. Were stone stairs, passage, and alley excluded from Sir Anthony's share. Opposition to said Sir Anthony, by the farmers of the customs and the owners of "Porter's Key" for his infraction of the terms of said agreement by building over said "stone staires" passage, and making a vault under it, and said Sir Anthony (being then a Member of Parliament) causing said owner for "opposing him to be taken into custody of the sergt of the Ho. of Commons, and soe forced him to desist his opposition. Metes and bounds of said premises.
