Description

Short title: Earl of Bedford v Hunt.

Plaintiff(s): The Rt Hon William Earl of Bedford.

Defendant(s): Nichs Hunt, William Caunter, William Spry, John Wyatt, Thomas Pike, John Bourne, Eustice Pike, George Dipford, Martin Sowton, Matthew Cudlippe.

Subject of depositions: Hundred, parish, manor, lordship, antient borough of Tavistock (Devon). Whether the plaintiff is seized of the inheritance thereof, "and of the soile of the streets and wast grounds "? etc. Touching the right to the tolls of fairs and markets. Weights and measures, and "the pretended com'on beame scales and weights newly set up by the defts." Customs of said manor, etc. Touching also the profits, made by plaintiff by "his com'on beame and scales" by weighing of wool and yarne, and other weighable com'odities within said borough.

County/place: Devon.

Date of commission: 24 November 1692.

Additional information: interrogatories and depositions taken 18 January 1693 at Tavistock.
