Description

Short title: Powell v Jolley.

Plaintiff(s): Joseph Powell, clerk.

Defendant(s): William Jolley, William Shinglewood, two of the defendants.

Subject of depositions: Rectory and parish of St Mary at the Walls in Colchester (Essex), and a parcel of ground called "The Cherry Ground" alias "Parker's Garden" and a parcel of ground called "The Holy Cross." Whether the said grounds are one and the same called by different names? Whether said premises are parcel of the late dissolved Priory of the Holy Cross, in or near Colchester, and discharged (as being "Abbey lands ") from the payment of tithes? Whether said lands are holden as copyhold of the manor of Lexden. Tithes.

County/place: Essex.

Date of commission: 15 June 1692.

Additional information: interrogatories and depositions taken 21 October 1692 at Colchester.
