Description

Short title: Gifford v Harper.

Plaintiff(s): Walter Gifford, John Gifford.

Defendant(s): John Harper.

Subject of depositions: Manor of Brewood (Staffordshire) and the mansion-house of the manor, called Chillington Hall, belonging to the Bishop of Coventry and Lichfield for the time being in the right of his bishoprick? leased or granted by the bishop to plaintiff Walter, surrendered by Walter, and a new lease granted by the bishop to plaintiff John. Touching chief rents and arrears of chief rent claimed by plaintiffs of defendant for his lands alleged to be due to them as lords of the manor.

County/place: Staffordshire.

Date of commission: 13 February 1688.

Additional information: interrogatories and depositions taken 3 May 1688 at Brewood.
