Description

Short title: Earl of Devonshire v Powell.

Plaintiff(s): The Rt Hon William Earl of Devonshire.

Defendant(s): John Powell, Gregory Ford, Francis Chamberlaine, Daniel Buxton, William Buxton, Valentine Smyth.

Subject of depositions: Impropriate rectory of Tutbury (of which the plaintiff is impropriator or owner), the parish of Tutbury, and grounds called Hanbury Parke, Tutbury Parke, otherwise The Little Parke under the Castle of Tutbury, Castle Heyes Parke, Stokeley Parke, and Rolleston Parke. Metes and bounds. Perambulation. Tithes, etc. Also touching the forest or chase of Needwood. Metes and bounds, etc. Tithes.

County/place: Staffordshire.

Date of commission: 28 November 1678.

Additional information: interrogatories and depositions taken 9 January 1679 at Burton-upon-Trent.
