Description

Short title: Buckland v Hippisley.

Plaintiff(s): John Buckland, John Bendish.

Defendant(s): Edward Hippisley, Thomas Wallis, John Dory, Anne Hippisley, widow.

Subject of depositions: Manor of Chewton (Somerset), now belonging to plaintiffs, and formerly belonging to Sir Edward Waldegrave, late of Stanninghall (Norfolk), knight, deceased,and the lead mines in such manor. Touching the claim of the lords of the manor to the tenth part of the lead ore "digged, melted, made, or converted into lead within said manor." Touching the copyholds or customary lands in the manor called "the Neate Places" and "Fardells" or "Landless Places" and "loading money" paid by tenants thereof towards the carriage of every tenth tunn of lead ore so "digged, etc." Also touching the office of landreeve within such manor, his salary, and exemption from payment of loading money. Customs of manor.
