Description

Short title: Impey v White.

Plaintiff(s): John Impey.

Defendant(s): John Miller.

Subject of depositions: "Undertaking to make a navigable passage" from Guildford to the River Thames upon or by the River Wey (Surrey). By what authority? ( "by authority of an Act of the late usurped powers "). At whose charge? Compensation to owners of lands cut through, namely "Sir Robert Parkhurst, Thomas Bower, Sir George Ascough, John Sale, Edmond Hone, and others." Cost of the undertaking? "The undertakers" ( "Sir Richard Weston, his second son George Weston, James Pitson, Richard Scotchier, and others ") did "compute the making of the said river navigable at £6,000." Sequestration of the profits of the navigable passage. "The Councell appointed Sir Edward Thurland, now one of the Barons of the Exchequer, and Thomas Dalmahoy, esq, to receive the profits of the same." Repair of "navigable river" in 1659 "by Mr Impey and Mr Forbenth." [A lease of "said river and soyle thereof" in Stoke next Guildford, "and of two mills called Stoke Mills, in Stoke" made by Sir George Stoughton (10 May, 16 James I), and possession taken thereof by Sir Henry Massingberd (the rent reserved being in arrear), is mentioned].
