Description

Short title: Paul v Bennett.

Plaintiff(s): Sir William Paul, kt.

Defendant(s): James Bennett.

Subject of depositions: Wines imported from Morlaix or elsewhere in France (into the port of Southampton), on defendant's account, in ships called the "Bachelor" and the "Honor and Elizabeth" of Southampton. Touching alleged orders given by defendant to his factors not to send more than nine tons of wine in each ship, that he might thereby save the duty of "prisage" and his refusal eventually to pay any "prisage wine" etc.

County/place: Hampshire; France.

Date of commission: 12 February 1674.

Additional information: interrogatories and depositions taken 22 April 1674 at Southampton.
