Description

Short title: Earl of Cumberland v Barwick.

Plaintiff(s): Francis Earl of Cumberland, Henry Lord Clifford.

Defendant(s): William Barwick, William James, Thomas Jackson.

Subject of depositions: Manor and castle of Carlisle, and the demesnes in the parishes of St Mary and St Cuthbert, in Carlisle, and Stanwick alias Stannix, near Carlisle. Metes and bounds. Touching the petition of tenants to the Earl of Salisbury (the Lord Treasurer), for a composition to be made for confirmation of their tenant right. Whether Thomas late Lord Dacre, was seised in fee of one of the tenements in question lying in Stanwick aforesaid? By what tenure defendants hold their lands?.

County/place: Cumberland.

Date of commission: 16 June 1624.

Additional information: interrogatories and depositions taken 16 September 1624 at Carlisle.
