Description

Short title: Manwaring v Harlewyn.

Plaintiff(s): Christopher Manwaring.

Defendant(s): Edward Harlewyn alias Edward James, William Verriard, John Churchill.

Subject of depositions: Manor of Sidmouth, the mills called the "King's Mills" therein, reputed parcel of the late monastery of Syon (Middlesex), and defendant's mills in the "reputed" manor of Rodway, in Sidmouth. Custom of "suit and grist" to the King's Mills, and alleged injury caused to them by defendants. [A lease of the manor, rectory, and fishing of Sidmouth, made by late monastery of Syon about the time of the dissolution, to Richard Goswell; and another made by Queen Elizabeth to Thomas Kerry, clerk of the Privy Signet, 16 Eliz, are mentioned].

County/place: Devon; Middlesex.

Date of commission: 16 June 1619.
