Description

Short title: Freake v Pleydall.

Plaintiff(s): Sir Thomas Freake, kt, Richard Swayne.

Defendant(s): Richard Pleydall, Thomas Joyner.

Subject of depositions: Manor of Watchfield, in the parish of Shrivenham (Berkshire), and tithes there, lately belonging to the monastery of Cirencester (Gloucestershire), and leases of tithes there, and in Shrivenham, granted by the monastery to Geoffrey Gunter and Matilda his wife, and to Roger Gunter. Lease of tithes by Queen Elizabeth to Edward Blofield, and by the monastery to Anthony Pleydall. [The possessions of William Pleydall, of Coltswell (Berkshire), and of Bridget Pleydall, wife of John Pleydall, of Wescott, and a lease by the monastery of the Site of the manor and the rectory of Shrivenham to William Pleydall, are mentioned].

Date of commission: 28 November 1616.

Additional information: interrogatories and depositions taken 20 January 1617 at Farrington.
