Description

Short title: Wall v Walcott.

Plaintiff(s): Thomas Wall, and others (tenants), of Hopsay and Aston.

Defendant(s): Charles Walcott.

Subject of depositions: Wood grounds and pasture called Ockmore, Brodmore, Elsmire Grene, in Aston, Hopesay, and now called Railes. Whether parcel of the Queen's Forest of Carewood, in the lordship of Clonne (or Clunne). A parcel of the ground called Okers Moore, Ellesmars Grene, Wortehill, and known by the name of the New Leasow, being parcel of the Railes, was enclosed by one Richd Riccas. About 18 or 19 years past Lord Lumley came as commissioner from Harry, the late Earl of Arundel, and surveyed the ground called Railes, and had it enclosed by consent of the copyholders, 1) Harry Earl of Arundell; 2) Sir Rowland Heyward; 3) Richard Thomas, late Earl of Norfolk; and 4) Charles Walcott, the defendant (since the land came to the Queen's hands) quietly enjoyed the enclosed land called Rayles. Customs of the manor. Right of common. Customs of the tenants.
