Description

Short title: ap Reynald v Leighton.

Plaintiff(s): Richard ap Reynald or Reignold, bailiff of the hundred of Foorde.

Defendant(s): Edward Leighton.

Subject of depositions: Certain marsh grounds or heath lying within the hundred of Foorde, adjoining to the lordships of Stretton, Rowton, Amaston, Little Willaston, Watlesboroughe, Stanforde Berley, Great Willaston, Bretchill Marshe, Wigmore, and Heyborde. Survey, and customs of manors at courts leet, and tenant rights of common. Depositions state that the heath is commonly called by the name of Watlesboroughes Heath in English, and Rosse Drevreth in Welsh. One part adjoining to Stretton is called Stretton's Heath, and another part adjoining Rowton is called Rowton Heath.

County/place: Shropshire.

Date of commission: 12 February 1584.

Additional information: interrogatories and depositions taken 29 April 1584 at Shropshire.
