South Africa: 'Plan of Pietermaritzburg'. Map shows named streets, buildings and numbered lots. Scale: 1 inch to 300 feet. Compass indicator. Annotated: 'In 9411 Natal'. Pencilled additions read: 'The Emigrants Houses surveyed and laid down by H. Baker, Government Surveyor'; 'The Map is a copy of Chas. [Charles] Piers and Lawrence Cloetes Surveys'; and 'To I.K. Brunel, Esq with Mr. Baker's respects - to the care of B. Krems, Esq'. Attached to the back is a canvas strip stamped '21361/52'.
