Hampshire and Surrey. 'Aldershot': three sheets from a set of four, together comprising a map of the environs of Chobham, Pirbright, Warplesdon and Aldershot: (1) sheet 4; (2) sheet 2; (3) sheet 3. Scale: 6 inches to 1 mile. Engraved, transferred to zinc and part-revised at the Ordnance Survey Office, Southampton, 1882. A printed inscription on each sheet states that the map is to be used solely for War Department purposes. Coloured MS additions showing the boundaries of Aldershot Local Board and of Farnham, Guildford, and Hartley Wintney Highway Boards, and marking roads for which compensation has been made following their extraordinary use by troops. Signed on behalf of the Lieutenant General by Colonel [?]Guin, Commanding Royal Engineer, 16 April 1890. Reference notes explaining the additions appear on the dorse of each sheet. Originally accompanying a letter to the Adjutant General, 3 April 1890; this letter is not filed with the maps.
