Description

Four sheets of the Ordnance Survey 1:2,500 County Series joined: Suffolk LXXXIX.[11]-12 and [Suffolk LXXXIX.15-16], together forming a map of the Landguard peninsula and areas immediately inland, chiefly in Walton parish; sheet LXXXIX.11 has been trimmed along the parish boundary and affixed to a base sheet covering part of Trimley Saint Mary parish. The sheet number is given on both of the upper sheets as LXXXI, but this seems to be a misprint, the correct number being LXXXIX. Details of survey, printing, dates, etc, are not shown. A printed note states that the map is to be used solely for War Department purposes. Coloured MS additions show the boundary of War Department property surrounding Landguard Fort and the approximate line of the Ipswich and Felixstowe Railway. Initialled: E I B, 31 July 1877.
