Sudan: Wadi Halfa. 2 items. (1) 'Upper Egypt. Plan of Camp at Wady Halfa': map showing buildings, main defences, and a railway line. Reference table to construction, distinguishing old and new buildings. Scale: 1 inch to 100 feet. Compass indicator. Surveyed and drawn by Sapper P G Stuart, Royal Engineers, 18 July 1885. Signed by Major A J Hepper, Royal Engineers, 30 July 1885. Fortifications corrected to 31 March 1887 and signed by Lieutenant A M Stuart, Royal Engineers; further corrected to 1 March 1888 and signed Major A G Clayton, Royal Engineers; further corrected to December 1888 and 21 March 1889. Two photographs of the camp are attached to the face of the map. (2) 'Wady Halfa. Upper Egypt. Camp and Defences': a tracing from [?another copy of] item (1), on tracing cloth; with two sections of a ditch on the same sheet. Traced by Company Sergeant Major J McPherson, Royal Engineers, 14 May 1887; corrected to December 1888; further corrected (with many additions and deletions) to January 1890 and signed by Colonel [illegible]. Dimensions: (1) 66 cm x 155 cm; (2) 67 cm x 152 cm.
