Sudan: Wadi Halfa. Two similar maps showing defence works, stores and other buildings, a railway line, and the nature of the terrain. (1) 'Wady Halfa Upper Egypt Defences General Plan': also showing the range and field of fire of redoubts; on tracing cloth. (2) 'Sketch of Wady Halfa, Upper Egypt'. Reference tables to buildings occupied by British troops, and to villages. Scale: 1 inch to 440 feet [12 inches to 1 mile]. Compass indicator. Item (2) signed by Captain J E Blackburn, Royal Engineers, 5 September 1885, and by Major A J Hepper, Commanding Royal Engineer, 9 September 1885; item (1) traced [?from item (2)] by Lance Corporal J Trippett, Royal Engineers, and signed by Major W H Mulloy, Royal Engineers. Item (2) endorsed: 'Plan No 59. Sketch of Wady Halfa Upper Egypt'. Dimensions: (1) 83 cm x 90 cm; (2) 72 cm x 88 cm. Originally produced to accompany a report to the Quartermaster General, War Office, 1 October 1886; the report is filed with these sheets.
