Cash Book of R H Chambers.
- Credit and Debit account for cash.
- Receipts were mostly from Imprest whilst payments were to individual members of the Corps. The latter include the man's name, his number in the Corps register, date, amount paid, voucher number, a 'paper' number and the 'P.O. Order' number. In some cases a woman's name is placed before the man's indicating payment to a wife/widow. Occasionally another relative or named person appears to have received the money. There is no indication of the reason for the payments, which were made well after the disbandment of the Corps.
- Towards the back of the volume are two pages tabulated as 'Memoranda'. These contain a list of 'paper' numbers with names and comments.
- At the front of the volume is a list of names variously bracketed. The next page is inscribed: 'Army Works Corps. R H Chambers 1859'.
