Description

Paymaster's Ledger.

  • Contains details of the pay, usually weekly but in some cases on a four-weekly basis, of officers and men of the Corps chiefly for the period 25 Jan-17 Aug 1856. This ledger contains details of men with a variety of numbers under 500.
  • Contains a double page per man, with his number. Most entries end with the payment of a gratuity. There are no details of gang number, job title or his fate.
  • The index to this volume is contained in WO 28/209.
