Gaoler's Report: ‘Once before convicted of Assault’.

Petitions and letters: Petition from the Prisoner’s mother, Mrs Mary Swiney, and his wife, Margaret Gillon, with postscripts from four other people, who confirm the good moral character of the two petitioners. Grounds for clemency, Michael Gillon’s first offence, previous good conduct until led astray by others and drink. Since his imprisonment, his destitute family have been supported by his mother, but she cannot continue. If released, money could be found to enable the prisoner with his wife and family to go to America where he could find employment.
