Folios 257-258: Peter Spicer, Regulating Officer, Swansea. Encloses a letter from Lieutenant Daniel Shewen requesting arms for HMS Ant. Suggest, that if approved, HMS Ann, now at Plymouth can bring them or, if she has already sailed, HMS Endeavour.
Folios 259-260: enclosure with folios 257-258. Letter dated 15 July 1812 by Daniel Shewen, Lieutenant, HMS Ant, Swansea, to the Admiralty. Requests that HMS Ant is properly armed to carry out her impress duties in the Bristol Channel. Describes an incident a few days earlier involving a vessel of the East India Company, which would have resulted in several good men being impressed had there been arms on board HMS Ant. Lists the number and type of weapons required.
