Description

Folios 253-254: Andrew Smith, Greenock Rendezvous. Reporting that Hugh Gavent and John Morrison, landsmen, were put on board the [Rosa?] tender as substitutes for John Rogers on board HMS Surinam.

Folios 255-256: enclosure with folios 253-254. Letter dated 16 May 1811 by John Rogers, Barbados, to the Admiralty. Requesting his release following his third impress since 1807 and about financial difficulties experienced following his first impress on board the tender Elizabeth at Greenock and obtaining 2 substitutes. Lieutenant [Moviece?], regulating officer Captain John Brown and Lieutenant Edward Lyons at Londonderry mentioned. Also tender [Rory?] and HM Sloop Surinam at Demerary mentioned.
